SJ05 PLAN OF SITE

We were divided into groups of four to choose a site surrounding the lake to take measurements and draw a proper plan view for that site.

Me and my group members picked the deck closest to the car park outside Block E because it has a rich variety of vegetation, construction and interesting topology.

Through this exercise, we have to demostrate our measuring and drawing skills to ensure our plan view is accurate.

This is the to-scaled site plan of our site and one thumbnail.

SJ04 TRACING

SJ04 A

After we are designated with our respective architects, we are required to trace different views of their most prominent buildings.

Our architect is Diller Scofidio + Renfro who famously built the Creative Arts Centre @ Brown University campus.

This is a basic two point perspective of the Creative Arts Building and its to-scale site plan.

This is the Diller Centre for Civil and Human Right's section view.

This is the plan view and elevation of the Slow House.

SJ04 B

We are required to conduct research on proper architecture templates and symbols to enchance our knowledge and understanding on how proper architecture drawings are produced.

SJ03 PERSPECTIVES

SJ03 A

We are taught the basic technique of one point, two point and three point prespective, hence, it is put to practise based on locations @ our college, Taylor's Lakeside Campus.

This is the 1st floor plan view of Taylor's University.

A simple one point perspective from the view of coming up the staircase from the cafeteria. Some simple strokes were added (which was from SJ02) to give more persona to the drawing.

One of the details of the location chosen is the flower pot which are lining up against the far side of the corridor.

Another simple perspective drawing of the Student Central as it gives focus to the window behind the plant in the drawing.

A two point perspective of the 2nd floor of Block A outside the Student Central. Every object diminishes in size gradually as it is 'pulled sideways'

SJ03 B

In this week's lecture, we were taught to do perspectives and below are exericeses to help us understand more about the particular topic.

A simple two point perspective

SJ02 - STROKES

SJO2 A

We are taught to use different types of strokes such as cross-hatching, zig-zag, short-strokes, scribbles, continuous and pointilism to add character to our drawings.

Below illustrates the differences betweem each stroke on the same object.

SJ02 C

Continuous and Pointilism strokes are applied on this particular drawing to show it's rhythmic petal and the texture of the centre of the flower.

Short-strokes and Cross-hatching technique are applied on this football player to show the disortion of texture a football jersey would look like when there is movement. The cross-hatching is to enchance the shadow of the player and the ball.

Zig-zag and Scribble strokes are used to define the texture of the man's beard and the fragility of smoke.

In this two-point perspective, I have chosen 5 of the 6 strokes learnt, namely cross-hatching for the shadows, pointilism for the dog, scribble for the smoke, short strokes for dark alleys and zig-zag for the curtains.

SJ01 - TOY CHARACTERS

In this assignment, we are required to pick 3 cartoon characters to be used later in our course.
